The Hindu Business Line : ICML to launch premium car and SUV at Auto Expo

New Delhi, Jan 7 International Cars & Motors Ltd, a Sonalika Group company, on Monday said that it would launch a premium car and a sports utility vehicle in collaboration with Italian design house Pininfarina.

The details of the new products would be made known during the Auto Expo this week. Mr Deepak Mittal, Managing Director, ICML said: “We would be using the technology of Pininfarina to launch a world car and a SUV. The two new vehicles that would be launched in collaboration with the Italian company would be rolled out from a separate facility at Himachal Pradesh for which the work is already under way. It will have a capacity to manufacture 5,000 units a month.”

He, however declined to reveal the investments involved, preferring to announce the figure in the presence of its Italian partner.

Mr Mittal was talking on the sidelines of the launch of a refreshed version of the company’s Rhino RX, which has been refurbished with certain modifications priced at Rs 6 lakhs, ex showroom Delhi price.

Rhino RX is being manufactured at the Himachal Pradesh facility, which has a capacity of 24,000 units per annum. ICML sells around 500 units a month and expects to produce Rhino at its full production capacity in the next one or two years. The company has appointed 175 dealers for Rhino, of which 45 are already operational.

Meanwhile, International Tractors Ltd, the flagship company of the group is expanding its tractors capacity to 80,000 units at Bihar, up 40,000 units, said Mr L.D. Mittal, Chairman, Sonalika Group.
