Rubber Spot rubber prices improve Aravindan Kottayam, Jan. 8 Physical rubber rates turned better on Tuesday. RSS 4 improved to Rs 95 and Rs 95.50 from Rs 94.75 and Rs 95 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi responding to a partial recovery in Japanese futures. Certain tyre companies were buyers on the grade at the prevailing levels. The February futures for RSS 3 moved up to ¥291.3 (Rs 104.38) from ¥288.2 a kg followed by bargain hunting at lower levels after an initial bear spell at TOCOM. The grade slipped further to Rs 103.02 from Rs 103.48 a kg at Bangkok spot. Futures firmOn NMCE, the January contract firmed up to Rs 96.88 (96.22), February to Rs 98.50 (97.90), March to Rs 100.10 (99.83) and April to Rs 102.00 (101.72) a kg for RSS 4. The open interest was 10,383 (10,138) tonnes, while the volumes fell to 1,297 (1,590) tonnes. The open positions were 2,315 (2,465) lots in January, 4,614 (4,487) lots in February, 2,649 (2,423) lots in March and 805 (763) lots in April. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 95 (94.75); RSS-5: 92.50 (92); ungraded: 91 (90.75); ISNR 20: 92 (91.50) and latex 60 per cent: 61.50 (61.50). More Stories on : Rubber
