Trade & Labour Unions Rural bank employees plan protest Our Bureau Kolkata, Jan. 8 About 69,000 officers and employees employed in 14,500 branches of 92 Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) spread across 525 districts in the country will observe ‘cease-work’ for two days, on January 10 and 11. This move is to press for their various demands, according to a press statement issued by Mr Dilip Mukherjee, Convener, Joint Forum of Gramin Bank Unions. The demands include implementation of Banking Pension Settlement, 1993 and 1994 in RRBs, parity with sponsor banks in payment of all other allowances and benefits/service conditions, continuance of compassionate appointment scheme, 1982, in RRBs, and proper and uniform manpower planning, recruitment and promotion policy in RRBs, the statement said. Meet with PMEarlier in the day, a delegation of the forum led by Mr Basudeb Acharia, MP, met the Prime Minister and explained to him the rationale behind their demands.
