New Delhi, Jan. 8 At least 100 vintage cars and classic cars and 50 vintage and classic motorcycles and scooters, some dating back to 1910, will be on display along with swanky cars at the Auto Expo 2008 beginning Thursday. The Heritage Motoring Club of India (HMCI), on Tuesday, kick-started the ninth Auto Expo with a colourful ceremonial parade showcasing the vintage machines.

“Our aim is to showcase the best restored thoroughbred classics including some rare, exotic and popular models of automobiles from 1910-1960 to create greater understanding and appreciation of our passion,” Heritage Motoring Club of India (HMCI) President Mr K.T.S. Tulsi said here.

Most of the vintage cars to be displayed were used by erstwhile maharajas, industrialists and renowned political leaders.

The club will also invite bids from visitors for auction of restorable classic car, he said.

HMCI, which was founded by vintage and classic car enthusiasts in 2001, has 180 members owning more than 1,110 vintage and classic cars.
