Kodaikanal to have more attractions

Madurai, Jan. 9 The Dindigul district administration is adding more attractions to Kodaikanal to receive more tourists this April.

Several modernisation works are undertaken to give a facelift and provide better facilities at all tourists spots.

Bryant Park is to have a new look and the facilities at Coaker’s Walk are being enhanced. A new children’s park is being created at VGP layout.

Works at Bryant Park include installation of a musical foundation at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, plantation of new flower plants that will blossom in April, and a new children’s park.

Three transformers are installed to maintain power supply to the park and street lights around Kodaikanal.

The children’s park at VGP layout will also have water fountain and landscape to be installed at a cost of Rs 46 lakh. Walking space in the Coaker’s Walk is widened and street lights at a cost of Rs 25 lakh are to be installed.

According to the District Collector, Mrs R.Vasuki, most of the works are getting completed and would be finished before April.

Plastic waste generated on the hill will be used for laying plastic roads. With top priority given to a clean environment, a compost yard would be set up at a cost of Rs 60 lakh for safe disposal of wastes, she added.
