Poultry Chicken dressing plant planned in Delhi G. Gurumurthy Coimbatore, Jan. 9The country’s first ever chicken dressing plant under private-public partnership (PPP) basis is to come up in Delhi with the Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board (DAMB) proposing to set up the plant at the existing poultry market at Gazipur on the national highway near Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border. The board, part of the Delhi national capital territory government, has invited the request for proposal (RFP) from companies, consortia/joint venture partners for setting up of the project to be implemented under the design, build, operate and transfer (DBOT) mode. The DAMB has set a concessional period of 16.5 years for the project (including the 18-month period forconstruction). The plant will have a capacity to process 5,000 birds per hour (40,000 birds per eight-hour shift/80,000 birds in double shift) initially, and can be expanded to 10,000 birds per hour (80,000 birds per shift/1,60,000 birds in double shifts respectively) within the next three years. The proposed project envisages a rendering plant and also an effluent treatment plant along with the processing unit in the complex. The DAMB in a press statement has stated that the board would offer seven acres of land available in its existing poultry market for the project and assist with necessary approvals from the local authorities. The board has set March 28 as the last date to receive the DBOT bids from the interested parties. More Stories on : Poultry
