Mixed trend in rubber

Kottayam, Jan. 9 Spot rubber showed a mixed trend on Wednesday. RSS 4 closed unchanged at Rs 95 and Rs 95.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. RSS 5 and ISNR 20 slipped as north Indian buyers stayed back while tyre companies continued their presence on sheet rubber at the quoted levels. The February futures weakened to 289.9 yen (Rs 104.38) from 291.3 yen a kg at TOCOM. RSS 3 spot closed at Rs 103.18 against Rs 103.02 a kg at Bangkok. The January contract moved down to Rs 95.25 (95.92) a kg on MCX.

Futures weak

On NMCE, the January contract finished weak at Rs 96 (96.83), February at Rs 97.68 (98.51), March at Rs 99.31 (100.10) and April at Rs 101.35 (102.06) a kg for RSS 4.

The open interest stood at 10,440 (10,383) tonnes and volumes 1,394 (1,297) tonnes. The outstanding positions were quoted at 2,145 (2,315) lots in January, 4,750 (4,614) lots in February, 2,719 (2,649) lots in March and 826 (805) lots in April.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 95 (95); RSS-5: 92 (92.50); ungraded: 91 (91); ISNR 20: 91.50 (92) and latex 60 per cent: 61.50 (61.50).
