Airlines Jagson plans copter service for Mansarovar travellers Our Bureau New Delhi, Jan. 10 The arduous trek to the Kailash Mansarovar yatra could become a more comfortable and faster journey with Jagson Airlines planning to start regular helicopter services between Pittoragarh and a helipad near the Chinese border. “We are in advance talks with the Uttaranchal Government to start the service. The talks hinge on whether the State Government can find funds to underwrite seats on the flight. The service would cut the travel time for the yatra to a few days down from the two weeks that it takes at the moment. The tariff for the flight would be affordable,” the airline Chairman, Mr J.P. Gupta, said at a press conference here on Thursday. The airline plans to utilise a MI-172 helicopter that seats 26 passengers to operate the flight. Jagson Airlines was recently granted a regional airline permit and plans to expand its fleet to serve more sectors, the Chairman added. “We would look to operate flights to those cities which do not have any air connectivity at the moment. During the year, the airline would look to add another six aircraft each of which would be able to carry 50 to 70 passengers each. We are evaluating the ATR and Dash 8,” Mr Gupta said. The airline has inducted three new directors including the former Managing Director, Indian Airlines, Mr Probir Chandrasen and the former Labour Secretary, Mr Vinod Vaish on its board.
