Media waited with bated breath

New Delhi, Jan. 10

There has been a building up of hype and anticipation about the Tata People’s car not just in India, but also globally. And that has only been fuelled further by what seemed to be an impossibility of pricing it at $3,000, the world’s cheapest car price tag. With global automotive CEOs and leaders like Mr Carlos Ghosn saying that his company too would like to explore the possibility of manufacturing a similar car, the world’s media too has been waiting wit h bated breathe for the Tata ultra-low cost car. This was amply evident from the crowd of over 3,000 journalists, media persons and officials that attended the unveiling ceremony here today. No other car launch of the recent past, in any of the major auto shows of the world has attracted this level of unprecedented attention. There were an estimated 400 media persons from around the world that attended the event and to add to the list of high profile attendees were all the CEOs of Tata group companies. In fact, while emotions were running high amongst everyone, including Tata officials and Mr Ratan Tata himself, the attendees were also equally thrilled to see the car being unveiled. The wows and exclamations did not cease till the very end of the ceremony. And surprisingly, the media persons that were whistling and cheering the most were the overseas correspondents. – Our Bureau
