Diesel City to promote clean fuel
New Delhi, Jan. 11
The auto industry is keen to work with the
Government in cleaning up the environment. In an
attempt to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding
diesel, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers
has introduced Diesel City at the Auto Expo. This
initiative will provide an ambience to experience clean
diesel technology. It was inaugurated by the Delhi Chief
Minister, Ms Sheila Dixit. Expressing a close desire to
work with the auto industry to speed up the
implementation of new emission technologies, she said
India should take a right step to lower the emission.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pawan Goenka, Head,
Automotive Division, Mahindra and Vice-President,
SIAM, said, "Contemporary diesel technologies have
evolved the world over and are no longer the smoky or
polluting. Modern diesels are clean, fuel-efficient and
have much lower emissions. The auto industry on its own
part would be delighted to work with the Government in
cleaning up the environment". Participating companies
include Cummins India, Delphi TVS, Eicher, Ford,
Mahindra & Mahindra, Mico Bosch, Skoda, Tata and
Indian Oil. - Our Bureau
