Container Info Service launched

CSIS will explain the link between the container and peoples’ lifestyles.

As many as 24 of the world’s top container shipping lines have joined hands and launched the Container Shipping Information Service to “help people worldwide understand how the humble container ‘box’ helps them enjoy the lives they lead in today’s world.” The move is believed to have been prompted by a research showing that the single most important step to improve the industry’s public image would be to promote itself. While the priority will now be to provide information to the public, businesses and the media on this hitherto relatively unknown industry, there are also plans to openly address some of common areas of general concern and talk about its role in addressing them — in particular, the environment, globalisation and security. For an industry known for its tradition of remaining silent, it is certainly a major departure from the past.
