IIM-K management fest concludes

Our Bureau

Kochi Jan. 14 With ‘evolution’ as its primary theme, Backwaters 08, the management fest of the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode concluded on Sunday, giving focus on the diverse aspects of the on-going evolution of business in India.

At the conceptually unique flagship event Reliance White Knight 2008, the theme this year was Urban Development which threw up some interesting ideas from the finalists such as ways to improve healthcare, mitigate transport bottlenecks, build on existing infrastructure as well as waste management in Indian cities.

The media contest in collaboration with Sony Entertainment Television was successful in churning out new concepts for innovative shows, including ideas for reality shows and new age comedies. A few chosen concepts among those presented would be implemented by the network’s youth channel SAB in its forthcoming shows, a press release from Institute said.

The business simulation game spread across all verticals and organised in collaboration with Gold Simulations, an US based firm also drew avid responses from the participants. With thousands of hits and active participation from around the world, the online treasure hunt named Labyrinth was another major draw.

‘Deloitte Deal with it’ was a game which required participants to value the fictional firms based on the financials given to them and negotiate deals based on their analyses.

Various other informal in-campus games and cultural events marked the three day extravaganza.
