Kolkata South City Mall opens

Kolkata, Jan. 16 Eastern India’s largest mall, set up at an estimated investment of Rs 650 crore, was thrown open to the public here on Wednesday.

Spread over one million sq ft on Prince Anwar Shah Road, Kolkata, South City Mall will house 134 retailers over five levels.

They include brands such as Pantaloons, Shopper’s Stop, Marks & Spencer, Wills Lifestyle, Lacoste, Wrangler Levis, Raymond, Adidas, Reebok, Nike, Lladro, Swarosvki, Hidesign, etc.

South City Mall will also house Kolkata’s first six-screen multiplex that would operate under the Fame Cinemas umbrella. It will also have the largest Spencer’s Hypermart in Kolkata that would be spread over 72,000 sq ft. The food court area covers 75,000 sq ft and provides both fine dining and fast food options.

According to Mr S. Mohta, Director of South City Projects, the mall is expected to contribute Rs 100 crore annually to the State exchequer as revenue towards VAT, service tax and entertainment taxes.
