New Symantec India head

Pune, Jan. 16

Mr Shantanu Ghosh will now head the Indian arm of Symantec, player in infrastructure software that addresses risks to security, availability, compliance and performance. He would now be the Vice-President for India Product Operations. He is succeeding Mr Anil Chakravarthy, who is moving to the US to lead Symantec’s Managed Security Services, Consulting and Education Services business.

Talking to presspersons, Mr Shantanu Ghosh said his focus would be to accelerate the innovation momentum, increase the talent pool to 3,500 across the country and enhance industry-academia relationship. Mr Anil Chakravarthy, commenting on his new position, noted that he would be responsible for consulting services in areas such as security, risk management, disaster recovery.

It may be noted that during Mr Chakravarthy’s tenure Symantec had set up the Centre of Innovation in Chennai and the Security Response Lab in Pune. The centres at Pune and Chennai have been involved in core product development and global initiatives such as Security 2.0, storage united and Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0. –
