Retail investors’ woes

Madurai, Jan.17

With the ‘bank holidays’ in force for the period, January15-17, retail investors seem to be the affected lot. Speaking to Business Line, a broker here asked, when SEBI works, the market functions, how come the bank depositories refrain from work ? With the declared ‘bank holidays’, the retail investors have been put to lot of inconvenience. They have been unable to bid in the futures market with the period falling between January 11 and 16. “Nearly 50 applications have been returned, unable to bid, because of the bank holidays. From one terminal, if this were the number, think about the whole lot of others participating in the market”, he pointed out. —
