Marc Sanitation to kick off showroom initiative from South

K.V. Kurmanath

Hyderabad, Jan. 17

Eyeing a bigger pie in the Rs 900-crore sanitary fitting market, Marc Sanitation Pvt Ltd, a leading bathroom faucets manufacturer in the country, will soon open company-owned retail showrooms.

The concept showrooms will first come up in the Southern cities of Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad this calendar year. After this, it would open outlets in the North.

"We have an extensive distribution network of 1,400 dealers across the country. However, we are planning to open the exclusive showrooms in major cities to help the customers visualise their bathrooms and find the necessary products to realise their dreams," Mr Sanjay Khanna, Chairman and Managing Director, told Business Line.

The Delhi-based company, which registered a turnover of Rs 105 crore in 2006-07, is looking at Rs 126 crore this financial year. In order to meet the demand, the company is going to set up its fourth manufacturing facility in Uttaranchal with an initial investment of Rs 10-12 crore.

Embedding music

In order to enhance the `quality' of stay in bathrooms for the users, the company is working on embedding music into bathroom fittings. "It is the only place where one finds complete privacy. We would like to enrich it by offering traditional, western and jazz music. We are doing research in this regard," Mr Khanna said.

"When you open a faucet, music would start flowing. We are acquiring exclusive rights for audio CDs for the purpose," he said.
