Thalai fishing harbour work

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 19

The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, will inaugurate the works on Thalai fishing harbour at Thalassery on January 21.The Centre had granted administrative sanction for assistance to the tune of 50 per cent of the implementation cost of the harbour in February last year. Later, the State Government also gave administrative sanction to the project, which is estimated to cost Rs 19.70 crore. The harbour will have two breakwaters of 850 metres and 550 metres. The facilit ies being provided at the harbour include an auction hall, canteen and parking area. When completed, the harbour will benefit 250 mechanised and more than 300 traditional boats.
