Spot rubber edges higher

Kottayam, Jan. 19 Physical rubber rates showed a positive mood on Saturday. Sheet rubber improved to Rs 95 a kg at Kottayam while the grade closed steady at the same level in Kochi. The trend was mixed.

Rubber turned better on NMCE. The February futures improved to Rs 97 (96.45), March to Rs 98.90 (98.43), April to Rs 101 (100.33) and May to Rs 102.99 (102.43) per kg for RSS 4. The March futures slid to Rs 97.99 (98.13) a kg on MCX. The volumes totalled 416 (496) tonnes on NMCE with 232 (226) tonnes in February, 119 (163) tonnes in March, 55 (87) tonnes in April and 10 (20) tonnes in May. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 95 (94.75); RSS-5: 92.25 (92); ungraded: 91 (90.50); ISNR 20: 91.50 (91.50) and latex 60 per cent: 60.50 (60.50).
