Karnataka truckers to go on strike

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, Jan. 19 The State Lorry Owners’ Federation-Tamil Nadu (SLOF-T) has asked its members not to operate their vehicles to Karnataka from Sunday midnight in view of the indefinite strike announced by their Karnataka counterparts to protest against the order of the State Government to fix speed governors in vehicles.

In a statement, Mr P. Sengodan, President, SLOF-T, Namakkal, said the Karnataka Government had ordered that speed governors should be installed in vehicles.

The Karnataka lorry owners argued that this was not necessary for trucks but the talks held between the Government and their federation failed. The Karnataka Lorry Owners’ Federation has called for an indefinite strike from the midnight of January 20.
