Sops for 1 lakh private sector jobs for disabled

Our Bureau

Kakinada, Jan. 20 The Union Government has approved a plan to provide one lakh jobs for physically disabled in the private sector, with an allocation of Rs 1,800 crore to be spent in the Eleventh Plan. The funds will be used on provident funds and other statutory contributions to be made by the companies for employees.

This will encourage the private companies to employ the disabled and make use of their skills and the latter will achieve greater financial autonomy.

Ms Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, made an announcement to the effect at the assistive devices distribution camp.

The camp was conducted by the Ministry and the Army Wives’ Welfare Association (AWWA) at the JNTU Engineering College stadium here on Saturday evening.
