Telecommunications Kyocera to push CDMA handset sales in India Our Bureau Bangalore, Jan. 20 Kyocera Wireless India (KWI), the Bangalore-based engineering development facility of the Japanese multinational Kyocera Wireless Corporation, is assessing the market for increasing sales of CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile handsets as part of its strategy to step up activities in India. It will be adding 300 more professionals this year to take the total headcount to about 900 at the Bangalore centre. It’s other R&D facilities are located in Japan and the US. According to Mr Samartha Raghava Nagabhushanam, Managing Director of KWI, the company has already sold 2.3 million CDMA handsets in India. He said though India is an important CDMA market in Asia, KWI had no immediate plans to set up a manufacturing facility for handsets. Mr Rodney N.
