New Delhi, Jan. 22 JCB India, a fully owned subsidiary of UK-based JC Bamford Excavators Ltd, has announced that it would be investing Rs 300 crore to double the capacity at its Ballabgarh plant in Haryana.

“The company is investing £36 million (Rs 300 crore) for doubling the capacity of our Ballabgarh plant in addition to spending £2.5 million (Rs 20 crore) on a new parts distribution warehouse in Pune,” JCB India Managing Director, Mr Vipin Sondhi, said in a release here on Monday.

Apart from the Ballabgarh plant, the company has two more units at Talegaon, Pune. The company’s plant in Ballabgarh produces backhoe loaders, while one plant in Pune produces steel fabrications and the second factory manufactures excavators, wheeled loading shovels and JCB Vibromax equipment.

JCB India said that more than 17,000 machines were sold during 2007 as against 10,800 machines the year before.

The gross turnover rose by 60 per cent from Rs 2,050 crore last year to Rs 3,280 crore in 2007.
