Financial Performance Corporate Results - Plantations States - Kerala Rehabilitation Plantations makes profit Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 22 Rehabilitation Plantations Ltd, a joint venture of Kerala Government and the Union Government, has made a profit before tax of Rs 6 crore in the third quarter of the current year. The authorised capital of the company is Rs 3.50 crore and the paid-up capital Rs 3.39 crore, of which Rs 133.42 lakh (40 per cent) is the share of the Union Government and Rs 205.85 lakh (60 per cent) that of the State Government. According to company officials, the director board has declared an interim dividend of five per cent for each quarter of the current year. Accordingly, a dividend of Rs 6.67 lakh has been paid to the Union Government and Rs 10.29 lakh to the State Government for the third quarter. The company was set up in 1972 with the objective of providing employment to repatriates from Sri Lanka and it now owns 2,035 hectares of rubber plantations on leased forest land and natural rubber processing units and an industrial sheets manufacturing unit. The company provides employment to 1,400 persons drawn from 700 families. The company has taken up replanting of rubber trees in its plantations in a phased manner at a project cost of Rs 66 crore.
