Social Welfare States - Tamil Nadu Job-oriented training in garment production G. Gurumurthy Coimbatore, Jan. 23 Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TADHDCO) has sanctioned job-oriented training courses in garment production to 650 youths belonging to the Scheduled Caste community for this year. The Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), Avinashi, will take up their training in two batches. The first batch training will start this month-end and rest of the candidates will be accommodated in the July session. TADHDCO will bear the course fee for each of the trainees — Rs 11,000, Rs 8,400, Rs 1,600, depending on the trade, according to a communication from the ATDC. To identify the candidates, the ATDC will hold a walk-in interview on January 25 at the Avinashi centre. The courses to be offered are production supervision and quality control, pattern/cutting master (both six months duration), machine mechanic (four months) and sewing machine operator (45-day duration). The Most Backward Classes Department of the Tamil Nadu Government too has come forward to sponsor the job-oriented training courses at ATDC this year.
