Jet looking for other funding sources

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Jan. 23 While Jet Airways is firm on going ahead with its $400-million (Rs 1,582 crore) rights issue by the current fiscal, given the unfavourable stock market conditions the airline is now mulling to raise money through other sources too.

Speaking to newspersons on the launch of Jet’s inaugural flight to Doha from Mumbai, its CEO, Mr Wolfgang-Prock Schauer, said, “Our goal to pursue the Rights Issue has not changed. However, we are looking at other routes of funding too.”

The Indian private-carrier’s rights issue would fund its fleet expansion plans and its last year’s acquisition of Air Sahara.
