Agro Tech net rises to Rs 4.6 cr

Hyderabad, Jan 24 Agro Tech Foods Ltd, an arm of the US-based ConAgra Foods Inc, has registered a total income of Rs 250.80 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2007, as against Rs 259 crore in the same quarter last year.

The net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 4.6 crore as against Rs 3.6 crore in the comparable quarter last fiscal.

For the nine-month period ended December 31, the net profit stood at Rs 10.80 crore (Rs 8.6 crore), a company press release said.

The sourcing and institutional business segment saw a decrease from Rs 117.80 crore in third quarter last year to Rs 80.90 crore in the same quarter this year. Similarly, it ended up at Rs 282.90 crore during the nine-month period from Rs 392.50 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.

On the other hand, contribution from the branded foods segment had gone from Rs 140.90 crore in the third quarter last year to Rs 169 crore in the same quarter this year.

This segment grew to Rs 472.40 crore (Rs 392.80 crore) in the nine-month period this year.

On Thursday, the company’s scrip, which was opened at Rs 188, closed at Rs 160. The 52-week high was put at Rs 280.
