Bangalore, Jan. 25

Ordyn Tele Technologies, first generation entrepreneur-led telecom equipment company, has pitched its claim to be a strong player among giants such as Ericsson, Alcatel and Huawei.

Ordyn, which recently won a Rs 360-crore order from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd for deployment of its optical multiplexer, plans to go for $15 million equity funding to support its research and development initiatives.

With a suite of products developed at its R&D facility in Bangalore, Ordyn is looking at capturing a significant share in the telecom equipment market in the next two to three years. Its MIMAX (an infrastructure support for WiMax system) development is in advanced stage, said Mr R. Venkat Rajendran, Executive Chairman.

Stiff competition

Only last year, it had received Rs 60 crore funding, with Aureos Capital alone chipping in Rs 40 crore and remaining coming from mezzanine assistance.

Mr Rajendran, a founder-member of the C-DOT, told Business Line that Ordyn had won the BSNL bid amid stiff competition from leading players such as ZTE, Huawei of China and ITI. It will be deploying its product STM-16 Multiple Add/Drop Multiplexer (MDAM), a next generation optical multiplexer that has international standards-based integrated packet switching capability to support efficient transmission of Internet, IPTV and voice-over-Internet Protocol data, in addition to GSM and CDMA.
