Retailing Corporate - Outlook States - Maharashtra The Bombay Store on expansion mode R. Savitha Pune, Jan. 25 The Bombay Store, the gift and home retail chain, is on an expansion mode with plans for opening outlets in the South and the West as also an increased presence on its e-commerce portal. Talking to Business Line, Mr Asim Dalal, Managing Director, said it would open two more outlets in Mumbai — one in the Orbit Mall in Malad and one in a western suburb. The other new locations include Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa and Kochi. Currently, it has four stores, two in Mumbai and one each in Pune and Bangalore. The six new outlets are expected to be operational by December 2008, he said. Once these outlets were functional, it would be looking at regional approach as part of its expansion. RevenuesMr Asim said the Store has recorded revenue of Rs 24 crore for March 2007 and estimates a growth of 15 per cent for the current year. He said with all the outlets beginning operations in 2008, it aims to double its turnover by the end of March 2009. Asked about the export contribution to the revenue turnover, he said, “ Our focus is on retail and the domestic segment. We do not see ourselves much in the export segment, as we are not into manufacturing. We get smaller orders from vendors from the US, Canada or Australia and they mainly look at home accessories and furnishings. We have around seven vendors who cater to some of our clients in the international arena,” he said. More Stories on : Retailing | Outlook | Maharashtra
