Novartis net rises 6%


Mumbai, Jan. 25

Novartis has posted an over six per cent increase in net profit at Rs 22 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 compared with Rs 21 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006. Total income, though, was down over three per cent at Rs 152 crore (Rs 158 crore). A Novartis statement said that the business was adversely impacted by the current pharmaceutical policy on price control. Novartis shares were up by close to 3 per cent on the BSE on Friday.
