Alliances & Joint Ventures Nicholas Piramal signs research pact with French co Our Bureau Mumbai, Jan. 25 Nicholas Piramal India Ltd (NPIL) has signed a research agreement with France’s Pierre Fabre Laboratories in the field of oncology. This was part of the framework of agreements formalised during the visit of French President Mr Nicolas Sarkozy to New Delhi. The two pharmaceutical laboratories would collaborate on research on natural substances. Oncology expertisePierre Fabre Group will provide expertise in screening and research in oncology, while NPIL will make available its natural products base, which will lead to the pharmacological characterisation of new molecules, NPIL said. India presenceThis agreement forms a part of the strategy of Pierre Fabre Laboratories to reinforce its presence in India and open new avenues of collaboration in the field of oncology research, which today represents 50 per cent of the research investments of the group. In India, marketing agreements have previously been signed with NPIL in 2004.
