Education States - Karnataka Global association of B-schools initiated Our Bureau Bangalore, Jan. 25 Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore, has initiated a global association among B-schools from the BRIC countries that could lead to joint projects, faculty and student exchange programmes, common research work and curriculum development. Participants at the two-day conference (Jan. 24-25) on management education, titled ‘Country perspectives in a Globalising World,’ included professors from State University for Management, Moscow, University of Shanghai Business School, Graduate School of Business, South Africa and Monash Graduate School of Business, Australia. Prof J. Philip, President, XIME, and former Director, IIM-B, said that he expected over 1,000 business schools from across the globe to join the association in the next few years. “Faculty shortage is a universal problem that has emerged at the conference and this joint programme could tackle this issue,” he said. Prof Pankaj Chandra, Director, IIM-Bangalore, said that Indian management education had now reached stage two of development and now was the right time to scale up. “We can all form a mutual network of top institutions in each of these countries and exchange knowledge through the digital media,” he said. More than globalisation, it will be development of leadership and creativity that will be the focus now, said Mr Tony Koo, Assistant Dean, University of Shanghai Business School.
