French honour for Narayana Murthy

New Delhi, Jan. 26 Infosys’ Chief Mentor, Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy received the highest civilian honour of France, the Officer of the Legion of Honour. Mr Murthy who also been conferred the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second highest civilian award, announced on the eve of the Republic Day, was felicitated as India’s “most admired business leader” by the French Minister of Higher Education and Research, Ms Valerie Pecresse, at an event here today.

“Infosys, which employs over 82,000 staff, is a shining example of development in India,” said Ms Pecresse. Mr Murthy, who pursued higher studies in France, said it was a country he loved the most after India. “Today is a very important day .. I read in the newspapers this morning that I had been chosen for the Padma Vibhushan award. It was a pleasant surprise,” he said.
