Our Bureau New Delhi, Jan. 29 The GMR group, Tata Power along with the Singapore airport operator Changi, Reliance Energy Ltd, the Essar group and the GVK group are among the 24 entities in fray to undertake the city-side development of Udaipur airport. The others in the fray include L&T Infrastructure, which has formed a three-member consortium that includes Unique – the Zurich airport operator. Unitech Ltd, Gammon Infrastructure Projects Ltd, D.S. Constructions and Shyam Basic Infrastructure Projects (P) Ltd are among those that have bid individually without any partners. Many of the entities including GMR, Reliance Energy, GVK and L&T have also bid for the city side development of Amritsar airport The winning entity for both the airports would be allowed to undertake commercial operation, maintenance of terminal building apart from taking up the development and operation of cargo operations at the airport. The Government has decided on following a public-private partnership for the modernisation and upgrade project of 35 non-metro airports, which it hopes to complete by 2010.
