Maruti Suzuki Q3 net up 24% on increased sales

New Delhi, Jan. 29 Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has reported a 24.1-per cent increase in net profit for the third quarter ended December 2007at Rs 467.04 crore as compared to Rs 376.41 crore for the quarter ended December 2006.

The net sales for the third quarter of the current year increased 27.01 per cent to Rs 4,654 crore ( Rs 3664.19 crore) . The company said its total income (net of excise) increased by 27.23 per cent at Rs 4844.8 crore (Rs 3807.9 crore).

The earnings per share for the December quarter was up 24.09 per cent at Rs 16.17 as against Rs 13.03 in the corresponding previous quarter.

Maruti in a release said that the number of vehicles sold during the quarter increased 17.1 per cent to 2,01,629 (1,72,181). While the vehicles sold in the domestic market during the quarter increased 15.18 per cent to 1,87,875 (1,63,108), the number of units sold in the export market saw a rise by 51.59 per cent to 13,754 (9,073).

Thenet profit for the April-December period was up 28.71 per cent to Rs 1433.14 crore (Rs 1113.42 crore) .

The scrip on the Bombay Stock Exchange was down 0.63 per cent to close at Rs 857.2 on Tuesday.
