Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Jan. 30 Southern Online Bio Technologies has received a huge order for three lakh litres of bio-diesel a month from Andhra Pradesh Government’s public transport utility —APSRTC.

The company is supposed to supply the fuel to APSRTC’s 12 depots across the twin cities. The order constitutes 25 per cent of the company’s total installed capacity.

The company set up a 40 klpd (kilo litres per day) capacity plant in technical collaboration with the Germany-based Lurgi AG. The multi-feed plant could use vegetable and other organic oils as feedstock to produce bio-diesel, Mr N. Satish Kumar, Managing Director, said here in a press release.

He said the company was in the process of setting up of a 250-tonne-per-day bio-diesel plant in the Special Economic Zone coming up near Visakhapatnam.

The company would spend Rs 90 crore on this project. “We are going to start commercial production in January 2009,” Mr. Satish Kumar said. Stating that there was good response for the fuel, he said the company was supplying bio-diesel to corporate clients such as Tata Indicom, Idea Cellular, Airtel, Taj and ITC group of hotels in Hyderabad. “Cement companies like Priya, Ultratech and Penna too are our customers,” he said.
