Financial Performance Corporate Results - Two/Three Wheelers
Our Bureau Pune, Jan. 30 Bajaj Auto Ltd Q3 net profit has dropped 5 per cent to Rs 327 crore on a total turnover of Rs 2,680 crore (Rs 2,729 crore). Revenue from its auto business showed a marginal decline at Rs 2,501 crore (Rs 2,568 crore). Operating EBITDA margin for the quarter was 14.6 per cent, up from 14.2 per cent in the third quarter of 2006-07. Sequentially, however, adjusted EBITDA margin declined from 15.2 per cent in the second quarter of the current fiscal. During the quarter, the company sold 6,34,316 motorcycles, which was around 18,000 units lower year-on-year. Though total two-wheeler sales continued to be lower by around 2 per cent, scooter sales in the comparable period have zoomed to 4,400 units from 173 units. In a statement, Mr Sanjiv Bajaj, Executive Director, said, “The industry slowdown (8 per cent in nine months), was arrested in the third quarter due to festive sales and promotion. Also, the decline was restricted to the 100cc segment which fell 16 per cent. The 125cc plus segment grew 11 per cent.” The company has shown 57 per cent growth in export volumes of two-wheelers, while three-wheeler exports dropped 14 per cent. During the quarter, a total of 1,52,261 units were exported, earning Rs 510 crore, a growth of 12 per cent.
