Kochi, Jan. 31

Lepakshi, the exhibition-cum-sale organised by the Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd, has commenced here on Thursday. The 13-day sale has been inaugurated by Mr C. K. Manisankar, Deputy Mayor of Kochi Corporation at Ernakulam Women’s Association Hall. Speaking on the occasion, Mr K.V. Subbanna, Manager, Lepakshi Handicrafts Emporium, said that the AP Handicrafts Development Corporation markets the production of over two lakh artisans through as n etwork of 14 sales emporia with the trade name Lepakshi. The Corporation has achieved a total sales turnover of Rs 47.50 crore in the year 2006-07 as against the sales of Rs 42.80 crore in the previous year. —
