Combining vastu, bio-architecture

Our Bureau

Pune, Feb 1 De Architectura, an architecture company that will specialise in combining vastu and bio-architecture, has been set up as a joint venture between an Indian architect, Mr Mayank Barjatya and Mr Michael Rice, Member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland.

The company already has contracts for designing several vastu-bio architecture projects, including the $90- million Vitalife Resort in Bali and the Camplhill Homes in Germany, an energy architecture project for handicapped children, Mr Barjatya said.

In India, De Architectura is designing the Nirvana Wellness City at Wada, Thane. Spread over 120 acres, the project has 200 villas, a 5-star hotel and nine healing villages using techniques from various countries, including Sweden, Thailand, Japan, China, Morocco, Hawai and India. The mixed use property will be ready in three years’ time, he said, adding that the firm is also designing ‘Wildernest Healthy homes’, a villa project at Khadakvasala, near Pune.

Explaining the concept of bio-architecture, Mr Rice said that it involved use of non-toxic materials like mud, bricks, stone flooring, wood, bamboo and a minimum of steel.
