Spot rubber gains on global cues

Kottayam, Feb. 1 Physical rubber prices finished better on Friday. The rise in global futures kept the domestic buyers under pressure and the markets made all-round gains as sellers prefered to stay back at the main marketing centres. Sheet rubber improved to Rs 94 and Rs 93..75 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 93.25 a kg on Thursday.

The March futures for RSS 3 expanded the previous day’s gains sharply to ¥290.9 (Rs. 107.63) from ¥283.9 a kg following yet another bull run at TOCOM. The grade’s spot improved to Rs 105.19 from Rs. 104.18 a kg at Bangkok .

Futures improve

On NMCE, the February contracts improved to Rs 94.60 (93.32), March to Rs. 96.40 (94.89), April to 98.50 (96.80) and May to 100.15 (98.72) per kg for RSS 4. The last traded price for the March futures was Rs 95.95 ( 94.50) a kg on MCX. Spot prices per kg were: RSS-4: 94 ( 93.25); RSS-5: 91.50 ( 91); ungraded : 90 ( 89.25); ISNR 20: 91 (90) and latex 60% : 58.50 ( 58.50).
