Spot rubber rules steady

Kottayam, Feb. 2 Spot rubber was steady in the weekend session. The market activities seemed to be quiet and neutral lacking external forces to set the mood. RSS 4 closed at Rs 94 a kg at Kottayam as on Friday, while the grade managed to close slightly higher by 25 paise to settle at the same level in Kochi. The transactions were low.

Futures improve

The March futures improved to Rs 96.50 (95.87) a kg on MCX. The February contracts on NMCE finished firm at Rs 94.74 (94.46), March to Rs 96.81 (96.29), April to 99 (98.50) and May to Rs 100.83 (100.28) per kg for RSS 4. The open interest was 8,143 (8,253) tonnes.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 94 (94); RSS-5: 91.50 (91.50); ungraded: 90 (90); ISNR 20: 91 (90) and latex 60 per cent: 58.50 (58.50).
