Software Corporate - Mergers & Acquisitions New IT solution to integrate AI, Indian platforms Sankar Radhakrishnan Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 3 National Aviation Company of India Ltd (NACIL), which was formed by the merger of Air India and Indian, has decided to go in for a new IT solution. Mr V. Thulasidas, Chairman and Managing Director, NACIL recently told Business Line that integrating the IT platforms of Air India and Indian has proved to be a complex issue as the two airlines use different platforms. Hence, NACIL, which flies as Air India, has decided to adopt a new IT platform, he explained. The airline is in the process of identifying an IT solutions partner to roll out a new IT platform. It will take between 12 and 18 months to complete this exercise, he said. Even as the new IT platform is being rolled out, Air India will also be implementing its IT integration with the Star Alliance network, which it recently joined, Mr Thulasidas pointed out. Air India is also working on improving integration of its international and domestic operations and schedules, he said. The airline hopes to integrate its international and domestic schedules in time for the ‘Winter 2008 schedule’, he added. Meanwhile the airline is also initiating what it calls a “clean sheet exercise”. The idea behind this exercise is to work out a completely new flight schedule for Air India, Mr Thulasidas explained.
