The Hindu Business Line : Zydus Cadila net rises 8.4% in Q3

Ahmedabad, Feb. 4 For the third quarter ended December 31, 2007, Cadila Healthcare Ltd (Zydus Cadila) has registered a total income of Rs 579.6 crore, up 22.7 per cent from Rs 472.4 crore in the corresponding period last year, on a consolidated basis. Its net profit from operations (excluding exceptional items) stood at Rs 50.6 crore (Rs 46.7 crore), an increase of 8.4 per cent, the company has said. PBIDT was up 26 per cent year-on-year to Rs 104 crore (Rs 82 crore).

Formulations exports up 47%

The income growth was mainly driven by 47 per cent rise in formulations exports. The company’s consumer business was up 27 per cent, according to a release.

During the quarter, the company’s subsidiaries in France and the US registered a strong performance. Zydus France SAS, which currently markets over 100 generic presentations, registered 31 per cent growth in its generics business.

Continuing with supplies from India to France, the group now manufactures 15 products in India, of which four are new products and 11 are site transfers. During the quarter, two dossiers for new products and four site transfer applications were additionally filed with the French regulatory authority AFSSAPS.

In the US, the company posted sales of Rs 57 crore during the quarter, up 47 per cent year-on-year. The group filed four more ANDAs and two additional DMFs this quarter, taking the total to 70 ANDA filings and 57 DMFs. The group has received 32 product approvals so far. Besides this, the company signed three new contracts for contract manufacturing with international companies during the quarter. The company now has a total of 26 contracts with peak revenue potential of $40.5 million.
