Port workers flay Cabinet decision

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Feb. 4 All India Port & Dock Workers Federation criticised the decision of the Cabinet to grant benefit of merger of 50 per cent Dearness Allowance with basic pay with effect from Jan 1, 2007 instead of January 1, 2005.

In a statement on Monday, President of the federation, Mr S.R. Kulkarni, also criticised the Government’s move of granting the benefit of merger of D.A. to the employees of public sector undertakings that are profit making only.

He said, “The pay structure, Dearness Allowance, HRA etc. of the employees of the Port trusts and dock labour boards have been evolved on the lines on which the wage structure of the Central Government employees were revised.”
