Airlines Tata arm to supply parts for Boeing’s Dreamliner Our Bureau New Delhi, Feb. 6 The US-based aircraft manufacturer Boeing has entered into an agreement with TAL Manufacturing Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, for manufacturing structural components for Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. In a statement, the company has said that the agreement will see TAL build floor beams for the Boeing 787 aircraft using technology with advanced titanium and composite materials. The floor beams will be produced at the new facility in Nagpur and be transported to Boeing partners in Japan, Italy and the US for further assembly. The financial terms of the agreement were, however, not disclosed. “We believe that this agreement has the potential to develop into a more broad based alliance that would enable both organisations to utilise the best and most competitive resources within themselves, and, thereby, offer greater value to the customers,” said Chairman, TAL, Mr Ravi Kant. The President, Boeing India, Mr Ian Thomas, said that the company was pursuing a host of growth and productivity initiatives in the country. In India, Air India is the only airline to order these aircraft. The production of the aircraft has been delayed and Boeing now expects to deliver the first aircraft only later this year.
