Reliance Energy bags CSR award
Mumbai, Feb.7
Reliance Energy's Dahanu Thermal Power Station has
won the Golden Peacock award for corporate social
responsibility for the year 2007. European Union
President and Prime Minister of Portugal, Mr Jose
Socrates, will be presenting the award on February 15 at
the third Global Conference on Social Responsibility in
Vilamoura, Portugal. Reliance Power's 500-MW coalfired
Dahanu Thermal Power Station near Mumbai won
the award for initiatives such as ground water recharging,
building dams for irrigation, installation of hand pumps
and making bore wells and drinking water facilities. The
company had undertaken education initiatives for
students; health initiatives like cleft lip operation camp
and cervical cancer detection; infrastructure
development initiatives like lighting the streets and sea
beach beautification, said a release from the company. -
