Modernisation 13 non-metro airports to get CUTE facility Our Bureau New Delhi, Feb. 7 Air travellers from Tiruchi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore would soon be able to check-in from any counter at these airports rather than having to go to an airline-specific check-in counter. This follows Thursday’s announcement that SITA, along with Airports Authority of India (AAI), would rollout the AirportConnect Open facility that allows Common User Terminal Equipment (CUTE) use at 13 non-metro airports including the four airports in South India. The 13 airports are expected to record a passenger traffic growth of 37 per cent over the next five years. ApplicationAirportConnect CUTE is a common software, hardware and network airport solution that enables airlines and handling agents to access their own application from workstations and printers shared by all users. Addressing a press conference, SITA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Francesco Violante, said that the deployment of AirportConnect to 13 airports will make them more attractive for airlines as it streamlines the process of passenger management as the market grows. “In the next 10 months the facility will be available at 13 non-metro airports including those in South India,” said Director-Sales, South Asia, Mr Maneesh Jaikrishna. The CUTE facility is already available at 10 airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Kochi. More Stories on : Modernisation | Airlines
