Nagapattinam, Feb. 8

Procurement of samba paddy by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation in the Cauvery delta region of Nagapattinam district has touched the one-lakh-tonne mark on Friday and the average daily arrival of paddy to the Direct Purchase Centres (DPCs) has also increased to 6,500 tonnes. Mr P. Moorthy, Senior Regional Manager of TNCSC, Nagapattinam, said that about 19,000 tonnes of procured samba paddy had so far been moved by rail wagons to several parts of the State. Harvest had

so far been completed in 60 per cent of the total 1.07 lakh hectares cultivated this year in the district.
