Kolkata, Feb. 8 The West Bengal Government has appointed a committee to review the feasibility of proposals for steel plant projects in the State.

At the Indian Chamber of Commerce, the State Industry Secretary, Mr Sabyasachi Sen, said: “We have too many private sector project proposals, almost 12-13 at the moment. Proposals to set up output capacity of almost 38 million tonnes per annum have already come, demanding almost 2,000-3,000 acres each.” If any of the projects fail to materialise, a sizable amount of land will be wasted, he said.
