Rubber Spot rubber prices unchanged Aravindan Kottayam, Feb. 8 Physical rubber prices closed almost unchanged on Friday. Most of the manufacturers were keeping their quotes below Rs 94 a kg, while the growers appeared confident to stay back expecting the prices to remain firm in the succeeding months. Sheet rubber, the only gainer, finished marginally higher by 25 paise at Rs 94.25 a kg at Kottayam, while the grade continued to rule steady at the same level in Kochi. Futures riseThe wide gap between the domestic and international rates had a positive impact on the producing community triggering export hopes. RSS 3 (spot) improved by 59 paise to Rs 106.80 a kg at Bangkok. The March futures rose sharply to ¥287.4 (Rs 106.09) from ¥279.5 a kg at TOCOM, attracting buyers in the wake of gains in oil and gold futures. On NMCE, the last traded price for the February contract was quoted steady at at Rs 94.30 (94.18), March at Rs 96.70 (96.33), April at Rs 99.65 (99.32) and May at Rs 101 (100.96) per kg for RSS 4. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 94.25 (94); RSS-5: 91.50 (91.50); ungraded: 90 (90); ISNR 20: 91 (91) and latex 60 per cent: 58.50 (58.50). More Stories on : Rubber
