Research & Development Rockwell Collins opens R&D centre in Hyderabad Our Bureau Hyderabad, Feb. 8 Rockwell Collins, the US-based company dealing in aviation electronics and communications products, has announced setting up of an engineering research centre in Hyderabad. The centre, which will initially employ 20 people when it begins operations in October 2008, aims to increase the headcount to 500 in the next five years. “Availability of the right talent and access to emerging markets are among the key drivers that made the company locate the centre here,” Dr Raj K. Aggarwal, Vice-President (Global Technology and Special Projects), told reporters here. The Hyderabad centre would initially supplement the global research activity. Globally, the company registered a turnover of $4.42 billion, with the exposure to government contributing 49 per cent and 51 per cent from commercial sales. The company provided avionics and cabin electronics for aircraft operators, airlines and manufacturers of air transport and business aircraft.Eyeing a huge opportunity in India, the company recently opened a liaison office in Delhi to interact with the Government, public sector units and private companies.
